Long before YouTube, in 2003, there was the virality of Fenslerfilm’s G.I. Joe PSAs. Chief among these classic internet videos is #7: Porkchop Sandwiches. Watch what happens when Blowtorch runs in, shouting “Porkchop Sandwiches!” And then watch what happens next.

There are a lot of videos like this nowadays where cartoon clips are re-dubbed to be humorous, but this one is a classic that’s been around for years. Despite how common videos like these are in current times, the funny factor of this one stands out for a few reasons. First of all, the foreign language dubbing of the kids in the clip is confusing and gives little language context in what’s happening, making the viewer focus on the visuals. When the character “Blowtorch” runs in screaming “porkchop sandwiches!” and starts swearing at and insulting the kids it seems to come out of nowhere and this unexpectedness adds to how funny it is. Finally when one of the kids speaks at the end, it is in English, but sounds like a severely mentally ill person which may be insensitive to some, but still a bit humorous considering they were speaking Japanese earlier in the clip!
